Beloveds,
The momentum is building for the “No Kings” nationwide protests tomorrow. If you are outside the United States, you are probably seeing news clips of protests and armed troops on the streets. For those of us within the US at this moment, we are directly experiencing the unsettled, chaotic fear, anger, and despair – among many other emotions that are inspiring such social unrest.

This emotional amplification is a powerful energetic surge – individually and collectively. How do YOU, as an individual, experience this amplification? (I’m really asking, this isn’t meant to be a redundant question.)
Now that you’ve approached yourself with a compassionate, open curiosity of how you experience strong emotions, can you locate it in your body? Where in your body do you feel this the strongest? Does it have a shape, color, texture, temperature? Take a breath or two to tune into the embodied experience of this emotion.
Next, would you consider inviting this embodied emotion to become your ally? This energy has tremendous power, but if we don’t come into a conscious relationship with it, it can certainly become an enemy – a force that works against our best intentions. When this energy is an ally, you acknowledge it’s power and ask it to help you amplify your presence, your courage, your message. Be embodied together and you are a force for change. When you are not consciously integrated with this energy you may end up acting in ways that are counter-productive to your intention.
Read the “No Kings” protest action guidelines HERE. Set strong and clear intentions.
For example, say you go to the protests tomorrow and tear gas gets thrown into the crowd. You manage to escape being directly affected, but the people around you are suffering intensely. When you are embodied you are grounded in your intention – you are clear about how you can best be of service to your fellow protesters in this moment. Ideally, you can stay calm and collected, you can tell the friends closest to you to “stay calm, don’t touch your face”. You have a can of air in your pocket to gently blow the capsicum dust off their faces, blowing at an angle away from the eyes, making sure to clear the hair line and mucous membranes. Your friends are crying and screaming, but you are a force for calm, and you are helping your friends get through this by offering them a guided breathing meditation:
“I’m going to count slowly from 1-4. Breathe in, 1-2-3-4, breathe out 1-2-3-4. Good. Let’s breathe together again, 1-2-3-4, breathe out 1-2-3-4. I’m going to stay with you and breathe with you until the pain passes. You will start to feel better in just a few minutes. You will be okay.”
You don’t have to be a “certified” life coach or meditation teacher to be of benefit to someone in this way. You just need to be a grounded, compassionate human being.
I want you to be that grounded, compassionate human being. I want your empathy and humanity to win the day, NOT your reactive emotions that lead you to explode or implode. When that happens you become a liability to the movement. I want you to be an asset.

You might not have time to read “The Call of Spiritual Emergency” by Emma Bragdon before going to the protests, but you DO have time to become more embodied, more centered, more grounded.
