In just a few weeks I’ll be embarking on an annual pilgrimage to two local festivals: Red Earth Herbal Gathering in Carbondale, Colorado and Bliss Sacred Sound & Chant festival in Longmont, Colorado.
I just received a really inspiring invitation from Kimberly Braun, the organizer of Bliss Sacred Sound & Chant Festival: to engage in “remote preparation”. Are you like me, and have an intuitive sense of what that even is? Let me share with you how Kimberly describes it:
It is the process of getting ready right now for what is coming in the future. In this case, it is getting ready for our festival.
It is an incredibly powerful process, one that opens the experience of our festival right here and right now. The process tills the soil of your own heart, mind and soul, creating something like a pregnant expectation and an availability to receive beyond your imagining. Does this sound enticing to you? I hope so…
And there are many ways you can open this door, and we can open this door. Here are a few ideas to spark your own. See if you can say yes to at least one form of preparation for the sake of your own transformation, and for the healing of our country and our world.
1. Sit quietly and identify deep desires you hope to have met at BLISS. Write them down, or intentionally place them, so that the universe can set your intentions into mostion.
2. Meditate (or use some form of contemplative practice) to bring yourself into a state of presence and place the festival as the focal point. Bring your intentions, your hopes for our community, and/or your hopes for our world into this meditation.

Getting familiar with this weekend ahead of time will open your heart and mind even more to what is possible. We live in a field of potentialities, let’s collectively plunge ourselves into the greatest possibilities for freedom, love and peace and why wait?

I love the way Kimberly calls us to directly engage in the process of preparation as a sacred part of the journey, because it’s true that our pilgrimage begins the moment we decide to go.
