The Way of Embodiment is the synthesis of over 20 years of my deep study and practice of somatic embodiment through Butoh, martial arts, performance studies, music, art, Tantric Buddhist meditation and shamanism. These modalities catalyze deep personal transformation shedding layers of false beliefs and revealing your true purpose with courage and compassion.
The foundation of this work is two-fold: first, activating and integrating the energy of body, speech, and mind that makes us fully human through movement, vocalization, and meditation. The fullness of your being is invited to play, experiment and explore. This is an intentionally creative approach, gently and lovingly encouraging us to get out of our heads and into our bodies.
The second aspect is relationality – the fact that we are all interconnected with each other, with all life, through the elements. We will enact that relationality through rituals that bring us into intentional, safe, and direct contact with the elements – water, wind, earth, wood, bone, blood and fire.
Welcome home to yourself
This challenge invites you into just five minutes a day of simple, accessible embodiment practices. Each daily exercise is designed to meet you exactly where you are—every body and every person can benefit from these tools. No special equipment, no prior experience—just a willingness to show up and reconnect with yourself.
Why this? Why now?
We are living in a time of relentless pressure, crisis, and disconnection. The systems we live in often keep us in a constant state of low-grade (or high-grade) trauma. Even if we are not experiencing direct harm, the daily exposure to distressing news, social injustice, environmental degradation, and global suffering takes a toll—our bodies absorb and carry that trauma, often without our awareness.
This is not just a poetic idea—it’s scientifically validated. Trauma doesn’t only live in the mind; it lodges in the body, on a cellular level. And yet, our bodies also hold the key to our healing. Gentle, intentional, loving practices that reconnect you to your body build resilience. They restore your capacity to respond with clarity rather than react in fear or numbness.
I know this firsthand. When I’m overwhelmed by bad news—just reading an article or scrolling through social media—I sometimes feel my entire body go cold. I begin to shiver, even if the room is warm. That’s my nervous system sounding an alarm. And that’s when I know: it’s time to pause, turn off the screens, and come back to myself. I reach for the very practices I’m sharing with you here.
Many people I know are asking:
“What can I do? How do I make a difference in a world filled with violence, injustice, and confusion?”
The answer is complex, but I believe it starts here, in the body, with you. Start by returning to yourself—your values, your breath, your power. Then call your representatives. Join the protests. Speak out. Take action. But let your action be rooted in presence and clarity, rather than burnout or despair.
Over the next 21 days, you’ll build a personal embodiment practice that supports you to be more grounded, present, and resilient—not only for yourself, but for your family, your community, and the world. This is how we begin to shift the paradigm: one embodied breath, one grounded step at a time.
How to Make the Most of This 21 Day Challenge
The most powerful form of rebellion in today’s world is to be fully embodied.
In a culture that thrives on distraction, disconnection, and fear, choosing to come back to your body is a radical act. When we take refuge in our embodied selves, we reconnect with our inherent power, our natural capacity for presence, and our deep sense of self-worth. You are worthy. You are valuable. You are lovable. You are powerful. You are whole—simply because you are here, in a body.
Over the next 21 days, you’ll explore 21 embodiment techniques designed to engage every layer of your being:
– Energy/Body
– Breath/Voice
– Heart/Mind
Each practice weaves together gentle movement, sound, meditation, and somatic awareness to support your return to presence. The exercises take 5–8 minutes, and each accompanying worksheet will take around 5 minutes to complete.
Ideally, set aside a consistent time and space each day where you feel safe, comfortable, and free from distraction. But life is dynamic—so allow your practice to be flexible. Some days may feel rushed or messy. That’s okay. What matters most is showing up with intention and kindness.
Create a ritual you look forward to. Make a hot cup of tea. Light a candle or some incense. Put on your favorite relaxing music. Let this be a daily act of devotion—not just another task on your to-do list, but a gift to yourself.
And above all: have fun. Play. Be curious. This is your time to come home to your body.
