Beloved fellow Savages,
Since I started calling myself “The Savage Shaman” I am getting inquiries about “shamanic” services. Some of these I am qualified to offer, and some of them I’ve never heard of.
“What kind of so-called ‘shaman’ do you think you are?” my inner critic protests.
“The Savage kind,” my heart replies, “so be careful what you ask for!”
While academically I have been pursuing deeper research on certain kinds of shamanism, and even playing with the possibility of articulating a theoretically universal “shamanic praxis” – I am not trained in the popularized “core shamanism” of Michael Harner – though it has its value. One wise teacher told me about 20 years ago, “go to the source.” So no matter where my path has taken my, I have turned my instincts toward the source, and then what’s underneath that…and what’s underneath THAT?

That said I am reflecting on my own journey and development, and noticing that about this time of year, every year, I am called to go deep within, to touch my own source of wisdom, visionary inspiration, and creativity. “What is really real, what feels truly alive to you right now?” another wise teacher recently asked me.
So this has involved my own level of journey work, which, outwardly looks like daily prayer and meditation sessions, offering candles and incense, drumming, dancing, singing, ritual bathing, and deep listening. These rituals are rooted in tradition, and ripened through years of practice, refinement, exploration and discovery.
What is your end of year journey? When was the last time you touched the source of your own inspiration? I am here to help you on your journey. Book your New Year’s journey with the Savage Shaman, available online and in-person, https://book.titan.email/thesavageshaman
